The Enterprise PMO Delivers

June 23, 2022 | by Jeannette Cabanis-Brewin

Our newest research study, The State of the PMO 2022, compares and contrasts PMOs in participating organizations in a number of ways. One standout finding has been that PMOs that operate on the enterprise level outperform all others -- those established at the departmental level or business unit level-- on a majority of the key performance indicators in the study.

This study was structured a bit differently from our previous editions of the State of the PMO in 2008 - 2016. In those studies, we compared the functions of PMOs in high- and low-performing organizations. The assumption was that if an organization that scored in the top 25% of all those in the study, its PMO's activities would have been a contributing factor. This time, we zeroed in a bit closer to the mark, and developed a list of ten performance measures for the PMO itself.

Check out the list of performance measures in the executive summary here, or download a one-page research brief specifically about the Enterprise PMO here.
