EDS Honored with Project Management Office of the Year Award Given by the Center for Business Practices

Award recognizes most successful, influential PMO

HAVERTOWN, PA (Dec. 14, 2006) – Project Management Offices (PMOs) continue to gain recognition and prevalence within organizations as a centralized force uniting business strategy with successful project execution. The Center for Business Practices (CBP), the research and publications arm of project management consultancy PM Solutions, announces that it has awarded its first PMO of the Year Award to global technology services company EDS for their Office of the Multi-Year Plan (MYP).

"A commitment to forward thinking in both words and demonstrated action are what set the EDS Office of the Multi-Year Plan apart," said Jim Pennypacker, director of the Center for Business Practices. "EDS' objective to drive change translated into a solid business plan, investment strategy, and strong governance framework that is actively delivering value."

The EDS Office of the Multi-Year Plan is the PMO that supports its corporate global transformation program, ensuring that strategic investment decisions are made and effectively managed at an enterprise level.

The Office of the MYP is responsible for overall governance of the corporate program and provides visibility to plans and progress and ensures the necessary actions to achieve success are taken. "The PMO has introduced best practices and automation that have minimized administration and maximized available effort for productive work. Strong governance is one of the key supporting elements of the EDS strategy," said Ruth Williams, director of the Office of the MYP.

Nominations for PMO of the Year were judged on a number of criteria, including:

  • Demonstration of vision and business acumen in implementing new ideas, methods, or processes
